The Master SCUBA Diver Trainer prep course consists of 5 PADI Specialty Instructor courses. Specialties must be standardized PADI specialties but can be either diving or non-diving specialties. Specialties include Underwater Navigation, Deep Diver, Night Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Wreck Diver, and Boat Diver. Dives are conducted at Lake Travis Windy Point and/or at Spring Lake.
The goal of the course is to help a PADI Open Water SCUBA Instructor build an arsenal of specialty classes to offer their students both during and immediately following an open water course. Popular specialties that integrate well with open water courses include Peak Performance Buoyancy, Enriched Air Nitrox Diver, and Digital Underwater Photography.
To obtain the Master SCUBA Diver Trainer rating an Open Water SCUBA Instructor must complete the 5 Specialty Instructor ratings of their choice and issue 25 PADI certifications. The 25 certifications may be a combination of Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster, and any of the standardized specialties that the instructor is certified to teach.
Master SCUBA Diver Trainer prep courses are often completed in conjunction with a PADI IDC or immediately following the IDC so that the Instructor Candidate has the opportunity to promote and teach specialties with their first Open Water Diver course.
